Closing Techniques: 5 Excellent NLP Closing Techniques to Close Sales Successfully

Any salesperson will tell you the same thing: the more and more diverse closing techniques you use, the more likely you are to close the sale. If you use NLP techniques to close sales, your chances of success are even higher.

All you have to do is add the following NLP closing techniques to your arsenal to close more sales.

1) Show the prospect that you will be one step ahead in front of the crowd / competition.

This of the NLP closure techniques is similar to the well-known smart closure. However, it goes one step further. You have to show the customer that by buying and using your product, they will “stand out from the crowd” and be one step ahead of the rest.

The closure is really simple. If you are selling new equipment to a manager, you can easily say, “As a successful and innovative manager, you will definitely get the most out of this product that automatically allows you to stay one step ahead of the competition.”

2) Use the traditional emotional closure by asking a question.

This is another of the NLP closure techniques that uses a traditional closure plus a more effective twist. All you have to do is ask the potential customer how they feel about the product.

Basically, instead of keeping up and starting with descriptive sentences, you should use a question with presupposition. This may seem complex, if you are not familiar with the terms of NLP, but it is actually quite simple. Let me teach you.

You simply have to ask your potential customer, “How happy are you using this product?” You are assuming that the person is happy and will give you a precise answer.

Then you simply have to say to the potential customer, “Imagine how much happier they will be using this product every day after purchasing it.”

This one of the NLP closing techniques will work like magic because it has everything in it: presupposition, provocation of emotions, and a quantitative sentence (use this product every day), which further highlights the benefit.

3) Use a smart close to reach an agreement.

This is another version of the popular smart lock. The beauty of this one of the NLP closing techniques is that the potential client will have no choice but to say yes. Let me show you how it works.

All you have to say is: “As a smart / successful / smart person, you will agree with me that buying this product will solve your problem and get the benefits you want.”

The trick here is that the prospect will automatically agree with the first part of the sentence (that they are a smart and / or successful person), so they will have no choice but to agree with the second part of the sentence as well.

4) Encourage the potential customer to buy using an obvious threat.

Indecision is one of the biggest obstacles marketers face. The person wants to buy the product, but still wonders if he will make enough profit. This is where the so-called rush closure comes into play.

It has some negativity, but you can easily use it, if all the positive closing techniques you apply fail.

The pattern to use is “Don’t wait to get / delay product purchase. Threat X is not waiting.”

I will illustrate the idea with an example. Let’s say you sell diet pills. You can tell the potential customer, “Don’t delay taking these pills and losing weight. Obesity is not waiting.”

If you sell a commercial product, you can say, “Don’t wait to get this commercial solution to increase productivity. Your competition is not waiting.”

5) Show your potential customer a successful example to follow.

This NLP closure technique is also simple and effective. What you are doing with it is showing your potential customer that by buying your product, they will only get real benefits that someone else already has. This is a foolproof strategy.

If you are in B2B sales and you are selling a commercial product, you can say, “Do what corporation X did. Get and use this product to increase your profit by 50%.” The potential customer will automatically assume that they will get this incredible benefit, so they will automatically agree to buy.

Just remember to use genuine facts when taking advantage of this closure.

Now you can use all of these NLP closure techniques effectively. Remember that the more you learn, the better.
