Does your underwire bra hurt? To the point where you’ve created a dart board with an image of underwire bras? If so, you are not alone! A painful underwire is one of the most common complaints about bras. In fact, many women are convinced that they will never feel comfortable in an underwired bra. Fortunately, this is not true. In fact, you can feel comfortable in an underwired bra … if it’s the right size!

To determine if your bra is the correct size, pay attention to how it fits. The ring should wrap around your chest and lie flat against your side without pinching or pinching. You shouldn’t feel like your bra is sexually harassing you! If it’s spilling anywhere, the cup is too small.

Don’t let your glasses overflow

To find a comfortable underwire bra, you need to measure yourself to find your correct bra size (if you need help, you can try my bra fit calculator in my online bra tester). Cup size is typically more difficult to measure than band size. so finding the best-fitting bra will take a bit of trial and error. This is also because brands and styles always fit together differently. But one thing is for sure: don’t worry about the size! Size is a relative thing and it is far better to feel comfortable and look fabulous than to torture yourself with the size you wish you were.

After measurement

The perfect fit isn’t just about size. Once you are sized correctly, you will want to adjust so that all of the breast tissue is within the wire. There are two ways to do this. The first way is to simply take your hand and place your chest on the wire. The second way is much more fun! You can lean forward and move; your breasts will naturally fall into place.

Reasons not to wear earrings

If you are wearing the correct size but still have underwire pain, you may have a high rib cage. Fortunately, there are a large number of non-wired bras available.

There are other times when a woman should go for a non-wired bra. I recommend soft cup bras for pregnant women and those undergoing surgery. Medical conditions like hiatal hernias also make underwire bras uncomfortable.
