What color of lure to choose for bass fishing?

Have you ever wondered what color of lure you should use to catch a large bass while preparing your fishing gear to put in your tackle box? Do you spend a lot of time deciding what to bring when you prefer to be on the lake or the river? We hope some of these tips help you take some of the stress out and help you fish faster!

One thing a lot of people don’t know is that Bass can actually see color! They have been found to be able to see red and green better than a human! Bass can also see better than humans during the day and much better when there is little or no light. It’s generally best to wear lighter, brighter colors when it’s sunny outside, such as white, yellow, orange, or clear. On darker days, it’s best to wear darker colors like black, brown, and purple. Keep this in mind when preparing your fishing gear.

Another thing that some people may not know is that the depth of the water in which you are fishing with your lure also makes a difference. When fishing in deeper water, if the outside is clear and bright, use the same guide you would use when choosing a lure on a sunny day, concentrating on the lighter and brighter colors. If the water is not very clear, be sure to choose a lure from your tackle box that protrudes from the Bass creating a silhouette that they can easily see. As you search your tackle box full of fishing gear for the perfect lure that will make the bass dance in the water, you will soon experience the success of having chosen the right lure to use.

So basically, when you’re reaching into your tackle box, pick a lure that you think will attract a Bass based on the weather conditions, depth and clarity of the water. It is also a bass-like movement, so when looking through your fishing gear, choose something that will move rapidly back and forth as you push it through the water. There are plenty of fun bass lures to choose from, and you can switch lures often to find the one that starts to bite – you can change locations too! Have fun and keep trying!

There will be trial and error when you pack your tackle box full of fishing gear, but part of the fun of fishing is the learning process! Following the basic tips when starting out will help you get going, but the best way to improve your fishing gear selection is by practicing.
