One of the most interesting sales people I’ve ever talked to was this direct sales and network marketing teacher named Glenn Turner.

Not necessarily because he gave a lot of great advice on sales, ethics, and dealing with people (he’s a real pro at these things), but because one thing he said will probably save me, my family, and my internet marketing business. put up with a lot of complaints later.

In fact, this secret that he told me is something that I think all Internet marketers should take seriously and consider from now on.

And that is, not waste time when it comes to returning money to people.

Even if you know you’re right and they didn’t live up to your end of the deal, and even if you know you’re following the letter of the law.

Because?

Because you just never know who you’re dealing with.

Especially if you are selling to people on the internet.

For example, Glenn told me how one of his business opportunity companies he ran in 1967 was accused of being a “lottery” and went out of business.

Now, Glenn was doing everything by the book and legally had everything online.

But what happened was a couple of people got into his business, and it didn’t work out for them, and they wanted their money back, even though they didn’t qualify for a refund and Glenn hadn’t done anything wrong.

And so, doing what most people would do, he didn’t give it back.

The only problem was that these two guys were attorneys general and so it wasn’t hard for them to use their influence and power to shut down Glenn.

The point of the story?

You never know who you are selling to.

The obnoxious guy with the “hotmail” email address and fake name demanding his money back could be connected in ways that can have a very negative impact on you, your business, and your life.

And that’s why now I almost always give refunds. Even when I know I’m right.

Yes, there are exceptions to this (I’m not a pushover by any means), but for the most part, I believe in giving quick and immediate refunds.

Not only does it create a good image for you as an honest and trustworthy person, but it can save you a lot of heartache later if someone really wants to take their anger out on you by trying to sue you or report you to some “alphabet” federal regulatory agency.
