I have this thing, you know, this problem, with things getting out of control. I despise when garages are larger or further forward than the houses they are attached to. And I absolutely hate when you walk into a living room and all you see is the TV and a nest of cables.

Yes, I know that what is a problem for me may not be a problem for others. But if it’s a problem for you, then it’s something we can fix.

Living rooms are supposed to be warm and inviting rooms where a family gathers. However, with our ever-increasing amount of screen time, it seems like television is taking over. Not only is it unsightly, but frankly, I think watching a TV, even when it’s off, encourages you to watch more. Families should spend more time talking.

To help get us back on track in my home, I purchased a media storage cabinet. It’s a beautiful, tall piece that really complements the size of my room and existing decor.

The media storage cabinet holds our 48″ TV, DVD player, and VHS player. It even houses the Wii. All of those components store neatly inside the folding doors so we only see electronics when we want to use them. The rest Over time, we close the doors and the material of the device remains perfectly hidden.

We haven’t had the new media storage cabinet long, but I think it’s made it easier for all of us to get past the TV without being tempted to sit “just for a few minutes.” Give it a try; Cut some of your TV time and see what you earn!
