Chipping yips got you confused? Golf chipping exercises can go a long way in lowering your golf scores and healing those chipped yips. How often have you been just off the green and then on the surface of the green after your bad chipping? Can you feel my pain?

Most golfers neglect chipping instruction because there is no glory in it. What fun can it be if you can’t just walk up and let it rip. Heck, if you’re having a good day and don’t spray the ball everywhere, you’ll probably still get close but miss the green. I know for all of you weekend warriors out there you can relate to this.

Tour pros spend an uneven total of practice time on their short game. They recognize that it is the short game that will lead them to compete in tournaments and win tournaments. Therefore, golf chipping drills are a big part of your repertoire and should be no less for the weekend warrior looking to reduce his handicap by 5 to 10 shots.

I would like to share some simple yet effective chipping tips that you can work on. Remember that your chipping stroke is like a putting stroke. Don’t stress a long backswing. The best thing about working on your chip is that you can do it for hours without muscle fatigue. Even an old man like me can improve quickly and shave off the strokes in no time.

Here are some helpful tips to improve your chipping skills:

Make sure your club head is square to the target

Place the ball at the midpoint or just behind the center in your stance

Sixty percent of your weight should be on your front foot.

The shaft of the club should point towards the left hip (for right-handed golfers)

Accelerate during contact

When those howls finally make you so angry that you’re ready to throw your clubs in the water, just stop and take a deep breath. Take my word for this. Get serious, work hard on your chipping drills, and you’ll feel like you’ve reached golf nirvana when those chipping yips are dead and gone.
