There are two cars whose releases are the most anticipated for next year 2013. They are the Toyota Avanza and the Honda Brio Sedan. Both are not exactly in the same category of cars, but they will be similarly priced.

The Toyota Avanza is being planned for the newly created MPV market in India. Started by Maruti Ertiga, this segment has a lot of potential given the price range and seating capacity it represents.

The Honda Brio Sedan, on the other hand, is aimed at the sedan class or premium hatchback market. Although both cars are in different segments, due to the similarity of their prices, many will compare the two cars to decide which one best suits one’s lifestyle needs.

Features of Toyota Avanza

This car is technically a MUV whose full form is a Multi-Purpose Vehicle. It is also called minivan or minivan. The car will be taller than a sedan or a hatchback. The interior space will also be more than a sedan car. The MUV or MPV is rumored to have a 1495cc petrol engine and be equipped with VVT-I technology. It will flaunt a 5-speed manual transmission mode. As it will be priced around six to seven lakes, it will give tough competition to cars like the Mahindra Xylo, Chevrolet Tavera and Maruti Ertiga.

Features of the Honda Brio sedan

Those who would be buying a sedan car for the first time can look at the Honda Brio Sedan. This sedan car will be aimed at the premium hatchback segment. It will fit under the Honda City and on top of the regular Brio models. There will be more space and a premium look. Honda has always been high on performance, power and low on fuel efficiency. From 2013, it will have Brio diesel as an option for its Indian customers so that the price differential between gasoline and diesel can be captured. It will compete with Toyota Etios, Maruti Swift DZire and others.

How the two cars will compare

While the Toyota Avanza and Honda Brio Sedan fall into different categories, price-wise they will offer similar options to customers. If one has a large family, then it would make sense to go for the MPV, while the Honda car will definitely allow you to enjoy a premium hatchback or have an affordable sedan experience.
