For extra small and small dogs, I recommend that you purchase a plastic dog carrier. You can read this article to see the benefits of wooden, plastic and metal dog transport cages.

Why choose plastic cages for small dogs? Because they are not heavy chewers, they can’t chew it easily, they are easy to carry. Which means they’re lightweight, even when your dog is in there. And most of them are designed that way, so they can be fastened with your car’s seat belt, so you can easily put the box in your back seat.

For medium-sized dogs, I would recommend choosing a combination of a metal and plastic cage. Because they are not so heavy either, although they can give the dog security. What I mean by combination of plastic and metal is that the box is made of plastic, albeit with metal windows and doors. They are ideal for medium sized dogs and the plastic crates have no sharp edges which reduces the chance of your dog getting hurt.

If you have a large dog, I suggest you take a strong plastic crate in combination with metal, or maybe even a wooden crate. Larger dogs are mostly bigger chewers, they can chew pure plastic boxes. Wooden crates are good, dogs can’t chew them, although they are heavier so a bit more difficult to transport. But the security provided by large wooden dog crates is well worth it. And dogs like wooden crates with a nice soft dog bed or dog mat.

Hope this helps you make your right decision. And remember, if you have a dog, you must threaten it, as if it were your health and safety.
