There are three things you need to know about gamers: they’re mature, they’re geeky, and they’re appreciative. And at Rovio Mobile they know it. The company released Angry Birds for Windows 7 and Windows XP, and the long-awaited game is now available on the Intel AppUp center at a discounted price of $5.

There is hardly anyone who has not heard of Angry Birds for iPhone, Android and Symbian^3. The game is a hit among smartphone owners and was highly anticipated by PC users as well.

The plot is simple: all users need to do is shoot wingless birds at hostile pigs with a slingshot. The evil pigs are hiding the stolen eggs from the user’s flock of birds, and that is why they are furious.

The birds are simply stylized; the pigs are even simpler looking and, wait a minute, green, but the battlefields collapse in such a funny way that the overall comical impression makes you addicted to the game. You don’t just throw birds, you have to set a proper trajectory to catch those pigs, and it gets harder and harder to do. Pigs tend to hide in increasingly safe places that are hard to mess up, like wood, ice, or stone. The birds, however, vary as you progress through the later levels, evolving and producing explosive eggs and such.

The iOS version of the game was purchased over 12 million times on the Apple App Store, leading Rovio Mobile to develop the game for other mobile platforms and even release a PlayStation 3 version.

And now PC users also have the opportunity to fight for the justice of the birds. Windows 7 and Windows XP users can purchase the game from the Intel AppUp center for a reduced $5 or a full $10 if they’re unlucky. Speaking of which, unlucky are the Mac OS X users who still have to wait for more applications to be developed for the game to be released for their operating system.

The Windows version of the game runs smoothly in a full screen HD mode with a resolution of 1680×1050 pixels and features up to 195 additional levels. The producers of Angry Birds promise to provide players with free updates as often as iOS users enjoy.

Therefore, another wave of downloads, receiving analyzes and investments is coming soon. The gaming business becomes the gaming business. It’s nice to know game producers care. It’s about revenue, obviously, but they realize that gamers are mature, gamers are geek, and gamers are appreciative.
